With a background in applied science, environmental health and furniture design, we possess strong environmental design ethics therefore have set our own objectives by aiming to integrate environmental criteria at all stages of the product lifecycle: design, manufacture, distribution, consumption, and finally reintegration of the discarded product into the economy. Our objectives are:
(a) waste prevention - extending the life of a material, using all parts of the material where possible, reusing materials, designing for longevity and recycling materials should the product be discarded;
(b) dematerialisation - by limiting the use non-renewable resources (ie. oil, gas and coal)
(c) sustainable production and consumption - reuse of materials, limiting the use of water and electricity, minimising waste generated, using the labour from local and community groups rather than international labour.
(d) raising community awareness and assisting in changing the thought processes of a disposable society.
